Bucknell is No. 1 in Nation in Student-Athlete Graduation Rate
Bucknell has one of the largest varsity programs in the country, with 27 teams competing in the Division I Patriot League. But many more of our students compete in recreational sports through an extensive intramural program. It consists of more than 40 men's, women's and co-recreational teams - from basketball and golf to tennis and volleyball. Many students enjoy the friendly competition provided by the 20 student-initiated and student-run club sports.
Bucknell competes in NCAA Division I sports (football competes in the Division 1 - Football Championship Subdivision). With varsity intercollegiate athletic competition for 27 men's and women's teams, our athletics program is annually one of the most diverse and comprehensive in the nation among the Division I Schools.
Bucknell offers a variety of intramural activities, 3 divisions (Men, Women, Co-Rec) for most activities, skill levels for competitive and recreational participants, opportunities to participate in tournaments, and on-campus employment as an official or a sport supervisor.
The mission of recreational sports clubs is to provide a broad program of sports and activities for both men and women of all ability levels in order to enhance their academic experience. You can enjoy the recreational, instructional, or competitive atmosphere of sports without the commitment of a varsity program.
The Office of Recreation Services is dedicated to the enrichment of the total person by recreating the individual's physical, cognitive, and social life while enhancing their educational experience. We strive to educate the Bucknell community in establishing and leading healthier lifestyles by increasing quality of life throughout adulthood with daily physical activity.
